From Cellular Silence To Billion Beejams and Beyond

Dear Citizens

The C+ive Foundation has completed 150 days.

What started as the Cellular Silence petition is now gaining momentum to become a citizen juggernaut determined to make the difference.

Our combined enrolment on Google and the different C+ive Facebook groups now stands at 800 citizens from all walks of life, from all over the world with a diversity of expertise and interests.

Before December 31, 2009, C+ive along with our partners Alt Tech Foundation www.atfindia.org would have phased in 3 pilot projects to be 'beta' tested for between 6 months to a year before they are launched nationwide during 2010

Yes, C+ive Foundation could go to foundations and corporates in India and abroad to seek monies for these initiatives but we first want the citizens of India and those of Indian origin to create the collateral for investment - not donate - and take ownership of initiatives that C+ive will enable.

India has to move ahead on the power and programmes of its citizens, -wherever in the world they might be - through private and public partnerships

There are over a dozen projects to be launched in due course but presently three will be beta tested in the environs of Bangalore rural and include the following:

Billion Beejams:

The afforestation of India with a billion seedballs a year to green India's 31 million hectares of denuded land and neutralise India's carbon footprint.

Beejams are the seeds of 22 of India's hardiest tree species encased in a nutrient casing that replicates the excreta casing of animals and birds.

This casing ensures a hibernation period of up to 90 days allowing germination as and when conditions are most appropriate for survival.

It will cost the citizen Rs. 5 per sq m to afforest India as opposed to Rs. 70 per sapling which might not survive!

For the cost of one sapling, it is now possible to ensure the greening of 100 sq metres with 20 trees!

Each rupee you invest and square metre you green will:

Empower a woman in an Indian village with the minimum daily wage, making 1000 Beejams (seedballs) a day.

Enable rural women to become custodians of the renewed forests

Enhance the corpus for C+ive's Chillar_Small Change Fund for Renewable Energies and Rural Innovation

Spirulina Project:

Administering 'a gram a day to keep the doctor away' of superfood Spirulina in a native beverage like buttermilk, lassi etc

It would cost the citizen Rs. 500 per year keep a village child healthy, increase immunity and reduce the dependence and pressure on the almost non-existent primary health care system.

Pro_Seed Lantern Service

The video clip will explain to you how the Pro_Seed lantern service introduced in south-east Asia would work in India.

At an approximate cost of Rs. 1000 per lantern, your investment would ensure:
  • A village household had light for upto four hours every evening!
  • Reduction in the use of kerosene and bio fuels for light
  • Enable an entrepreneur earn a livelihood through the lantern service
BECOME A FOUNDER CITIZEN

C+ive does not collect taxes or, seek donations but we seek citizen participation through investment to run C+ive Foundation operations and sustain initiatives in the pipeline.

An investment of Rs. 1000 and upwards would enlist you as a 'Founder Citizen' of C+ive.

C+ive Foundation is registered under Sections 12C and 80G if you wish to take advantage of such tax benefits.

Join us in making the difference by Innovating For India

sincerely

Invest In A Billion Beejams For India

Every citizen rupee is invested in a tree and renewable energy
  • Afforesting 31 million hectares of denuded land
  • Greening India for carbon neutrality
  • Investment in afforestation @ Rs. 5 per sq m
  • Empowering India's women with a minimum daily wage
  • India's village women become custodians of the renewed forests
  • A national partnership of government, corporations and citizens to restore India's bio-diversity for the next generation

Billion Beejams is a project involving the afforestation of India at the rate of a billion seed balls a year to green 31 million hectares of denuded land and neutralise India's carbon footprint.

It is a project inspired by Japanese environmentalist Masanobu Fukuoka, undertaken by C+ive Foundation in partnership with the Alt Tech Foundation www.atfindia.org

Beejams include the seeds of 22 of India's hardiest tree species encased in a nutrient casing that replicates the excreta casing of animals and birds.

This casing ensures a hibernation period of up to 90 days, allowing germination to occur as and when environmental conditions are most appropriate.

For the price of nurturing one sapling by human hand (i.e. Rs. 100/-), Nature can nurture 20 seed balls into full grown trees.

It will cost the citizen Rs. 5 per sq m. to afforest India.

ISRO's remote sensing satellites will provide monthly updates on-line monitoring the progress of your green investment in India.

Each rupee you invest and square metre you green shall:

  • Empower a woman in an Indian village with the minimum daily wage, making 1000 beejams (seedballs) a day.
  • Empower village women as custodians of the renewed forests
  • Enhance the corpus for C+ive's Chillar_Small Change Fund for Renewable Energies and Rural Innovation.
